Typical dishes...
For breakfast, eggs and bread rolls or toast are available. A good alternative is a sweet corn tamale known as "Humitas" that is often served with coffee.
Lunch, "almuerzo", is the main meal of the day for Ecuadorians. It generally consists of "sopa" (soup) and a "segundo" (second dish) with salad, juice and "postre" (dessert). The evening meal, "merienda", is usually similar to lunch.
There are many Ecuadorian restaurants as well as internationa food. Burger King, Mc Donald's, KFC , TGI Fridays, Pizza Hut, Taco Bell and Dunkin Donuts are all available in Quito.
